“The past is already gone, the future is not yet here. There’s only one moment for you to live.” - Buddha

“The past is already gone; the future is not yet here. There’s only one moment for you to live.” - Buddha

Buddhism is all about science behind the living of life. Gautama Buddha the founder of buddhism was one of the first scientist who found out reasons behind the sufferings of humankind. In this quote Gautama Buddha is trying to explain the importance of living the present. Gautama Buddha has always in his quotes tried to explain the importance of living the current moment to attain happiness and walk away from anxiousness.

‘The past is already gone’ explains that whatever past you have gone through either it was happening or suffering, it has gone, you could never ever can live it up again. So, as we can’t live it up again, we can’t even edit or change it if we want to. We can’t even feel it again no matter how happening and blissful it was. If uh happened to make a mistake, uh can’t go in the past and correct it, u see.

‘the future is not yet here.’ conveys that the future which you are too anxious about is not yet happened. There is time for it. You are anxiousness about the future and want to live it now, but guess what? You can’t live it at the present, that’s the reason it's called future.

‘there is only one moment for you to live.’ quoting this, Buddha wants to convey that there's only one moment you can live, is present. Only one moment which you can feel for real. Which you can edit whatever way you want. A moment which you can feel happiness about, is the present.

Conclusion

In this quote Buddha explains deep message in simple words for us to understand the importance of present. We mostly happen to live our life dwelling in the past or worrying about the future and in this process, we lose reality and that’s, the present. Past must be accepted whatever it may be, as it has gone, you cannot edit but only accept it whatever way it is.

Future is yet to come and in worrying about it you lose present reality and not live it to the fullest and thus you are in loss both ways. It's only the present which you can live. Your present actions based on past experience and future directions can make your life a better lived but for that you have to live the present to the fullest.

Believe me you could be happy if you only focus on present as it is the only reality and not past and future.

So now how you're going to live your present?
